Incline Village
A Lake Tahoe Golf Escape Above the Ordinary
On the north shore of Lake Tahoe, where Nevada meets the Sierra Nevada mountains, Incline Village feels like a place designed for escape. It is the kind of destination where the scenery does half the storytelling for you—towering pines, crystal-blue lake views, and alpine air that changes how everything feels, including a simple round of golf.
But what makes Incline Village especially unique is that it is not just a seasonal resort town or a weekend getaway. It is a year-round recreation community where golf is woven into a much larger outdoor lifestyle. In the summer, the mountains come alive with hiking, biking, boating, tennis, pickleball, and disc golf. In winter, the same landscape transforms into a playground for snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing in the neighboring mountains, plus downhill skiing and snowboarding at nearby Diamond Peak Ski Resort. At the center of it all are The Golf Courses at Incline Village—two distinct courses that offer completely different ways to experience the same incredible setting.
The Championship Course is the signature experience. Designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., this par-72 layout stretches over 7,100 yards and plays through a classic mountain forest framed by sweeping Sierra views. At elevation, the ball travels differently, rewarding confident swings and smart course management. Recently renovated by Kyle Phillips, the course has earned a reputation as one of the top public golf experiences in Nevada and the Lake Tahoe region. It is polished, strategic, and scenic in a way that makes every hole feel like part of a larger journey through the mountains.

Just up the road, the Mountain Course offers a completely different rhythm. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., this par-58 executive course sits even higher—reaching upwards of over 7,000 feet, making it the highest-elevation golf course in Nevada and the entire Lake Tahoe Basin. It is shorter, faster, and more playful, built for enjoyment rather than endurance. Beginners find it approachable, while experienced players appreciate its creative shot-making and relaxed pace.
It is also home to some of Incline Village’s most social golf experiences, including popular Nine & Wine events that blend casual golf with wine tasting and community atmosphere.
Together, the two courses reflect what makes Incline Village special: flexibility. One day can be a full championship test of skill, and the next can be a relaxed evening nine holes at sunset. Few destinations offer that kind of range within the same community.
Beyond the fairways, Incline Village continues to impress. The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) manages a wide range of public amenities, including tennis and pickleball courts, a recreation center, community parks, and access to Diamond Peak Ski Resort. It is a place built around activity and outdoor living, not just tourism.
At the heart of the golf experience is The Chateau clubhouse, a mountain lodge-style gathering space overlooking the Championship Course. Inside, The Grille at The Chateau serves as a natural extension of the round itself. Golfers and visitors gather on the patio overlooking the 18th green, enjoying lunch, happy hour, or weekend brunch while the last groups finish their rounds. In many ways, it is where the day slows down and the setting really sinks in.
For those looking to improve their game, Incline Village also offers a full PGA-led instructional program through its Golf Academy. Players of all ages and skill levels can take private lessons, join clinics, or participate in structured programs like the Get Golf Ready series, which introduces beginners to every part of the game in a welcoming group environment. On-course instruction and advanced training are also available for more experienced golfers looking to fine-tune performance.

The golf season typically begins in early May, with the Championship Course opening first and the Mountain Course following shortly after, depending on conditions. At elevation, the timing of the season is always shaped by the snowpack, but that unpredictability is part of what makes golf here feel tied directly to nature.
What ultimately sets Incline Village apart is not just the quality of its courses or amenities, but the setting itself. Every round feels framed by mountains, every tee box feels elevated—both literally and figuratively—and every visit feels like more than just a golf trip. It is a destination where golf is not the entire story, but it is one of the best ways to experience everything else.
