Two of the top golfers in Southern Nevada, who now play collegiately, earned prestigious Nevada State Amateur titles in 2024. UNLV golfer McKenzi Hall and Cal Poly Pomona golfer Jackson Parrish won the women’s and men’s titles, respectively.
“It means the world to me to win such a prestigious event,” says Hall, a rising senior at UNLV and who also played in the LPGA Match Play at Shadow Creek in the spring. “This has been a tournament I’ve wanted to win for a while now. I’ve come close in the past, but to finally get it done means so much to me—especially since this is my hometown. Knowing that I checked this off my list makes me very proud of myself.”
For the first time in history, the Nevada State men’s champion earned a spot in the 2024 U.S. Amateur. Parrish missed in local qualifying, so he was thrilled to win the spot via the State Am. In 2025, the women should also earn an exemption into the national event.
“Winning an event like this means a ton,” Parrish says. “I wasn’t born in Las Vegas, but I’ve lived here for most of my adult life. It means a lot that I’ve done something like this. It’s so cool to see all the names on the trophy.”
